The first England-China Secondary exchange took place in 2015/16. 68 secondary teachers and four NCETM staff travelled to Shanghai for ten days to visit the exchange schools there and meet the Shanghai teachers participating in the exchange. It has been confirmed that secondary teachers will again be involved in exchanges planned from September 2018.
Immediately after their return from Shanghai, NCETM Assistant Directors Ione Crossley, Andy Tharratt and Pete Griffin summed up their main observations.
In November 2015, 70 teachers came to England and taught mainly in Year 7 and 8 classes in their partners’ schools.
The Shanghai teachers were in their partner schools in England during November 2015: there is a gallery of photographs, as well as a selection of videos of the English teachers expressing their views about the impact and potential changes as a result of this phase of the exchange programme.
