Funding confirmed for two more years

Since the last issue of Bespoke was published, it’s been confirmed that the Maths Hubs programme will continue to receive funding from the DfE for another two years, taking it to the end of the 2017/2018 school year. ‘This provides a very solid base to support longer term planning for Maths Hubs’ work,’ says John Westwell, the NCETM’s Director for Strategy and programme lead. As in the first two years of the programme, each Maths Hub will receive funding to participate in national collaborative projects. From September 2016, these will be:

  • Teaching for mastery in primary and secondary mathematics
  • Mathematical reasoning in Key Stage 3
  • Level 3 (post GCSE) mathematics

Each hub will also receive funding for locally designed projects, customised to match local needs, in the above three, and other, areas, including:

  • Leadership development
  • Teacher supply
  • Curriculum, resources and qualifications
